UPDATE: Motorcyclist killed will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery


 UPDATE: Turner Funeral Home released the obituary for the motorcyclist who died in a crash on Ooltewah Georgetown Road on January 11. 


According to the obituary, 24-year-old Christopher Swartout served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He also worked as a UPS truck driver. 

His family will receive visitors at Maple Grove Baptist Church on Saturday, January 17, from 3:00pm-7:00pm, and Sunday, January 18, from 2:00pm-5:00pm. 


The funeral service will follow Sunday's visitation, and it will begin at 5:00pm. 


Swartout will be laid to rest at the Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, January 19, at 9:00am. 


"In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Til Valhalla Project," Turner Funeral Home said in a post.

PREVIOUS STORY: A male motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Ooltewah Georgetown around 4:00am Sunday, January 11, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office says.


When deputies got to the scene of the single-vehicle wreck around the 6400 block of Ooltewah Georgetown Road, they found the driver dead and his bike off the roadway.


HCSO has not released the victim's name.


Preliminary information indicates the motorcycle left the roadway on a curve, struck a tree and a fence, and came to rest in a nearby yard.


The crash remains under investigation, and we're working to learn more.

PREVIOUS STORY: A portion of Ooltewah-Georgetown Road is closed Sunday morning following a "serious crash," according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office (HCSO). 


The wreck happened in the 6400 block, which is just north of Ooltewah Adventist School. 


The HCSO said the road is temporarily closed while emergency crews respond to the scene. 


Drivers should expect delays and take an alternate route until further notice.
